A Study on Natural Disasters Predictive Model Using Periodic Natural Phenomenon Based on Non-homogenous Poisson Process
Tsinghua University
Participates in 1 Session

Wenhui Ju (jwh19@mails.tsinghua.edu.cn) received the B.S. degree in Fire Protection Engineering in 2014 and the M.S. degree in Safety Engineering and Technology in 2016 from People's Police University of China. She is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree in Safety Engineering and Technology with the Department of Engineering Physics, Tsinghua University, China.

Her research interests include Resilience and Climate Change, Building Fire Safety, Risk Assessment, Risk Decision, Insurance, and Behavior Economics. She is greatly interested in the periodical fluctuation of natural disasters with climate change and devoting herself to study on how human being’ risk preference changes under different disaster prospects, various mitigation measures, and emotions. And she aims at combining the two aspects to provide scientific disaster insurance policies for policymakers to optimize insurance mechanism and prevent people from disasters.

Work Experience

She served in Tianjin Fire Research Institute of MEM as an intern student in 2014-2015. After graduation, she worked as an auditor of building fire safety design in 2016-2019. In 2019, she was certificated as the first-level registered fire safety engineer, after which she started her Ph.D. program until now.

Academic Experience

She participated in more than ten significant scientific research projects. During her internship, she joined in two building fire safety projects, one was a hot smoke experiment of Shanghai Tower Atrium, and the other was Research on Logistics Warehouse Dynamic Fire Risk Assessment Based on a Modified 3-dimensioned Gustav Method, which was also her dissertation with a Best Paper Award.

During the work, she had audited more than 300 blueprints of construction projects to make sure their fire safety level according to building codes and standards. She was also a supervisor and consultant of building fire safety engineering, participating in risk identification, regional risk assessment, and policy making.

During The Ph.D. program, she has been trying to get every chance to improve herself. She expanded scientific areas and joined in various research projects, including Emergency Management and International Humanitarian Assistance for learning different emergency management structures both in developed countries and developing ones in a worldwide view, and City All-hazards Risk Evaluation of Shandong Province in China for investigating the correlations between different lifeline safety systems. She published two conference papers, ICPFFPE 2015 (EI) and ICECED 2017 (CPCI).
