Kathryn (Katy) Hinkelman's research focuses on modeling and simulation of community-scale energy systems using Modelica language, including traditional district heating and cooling systems and innovative biomimetic (nature imitating) designs for future sustainable and resilient communities. Katy received the international P.E.O. Scholar Award and the U.S. Department of Energy's IBUILD Research Fellowship. She is a contributor to the open-source Modelica Buildings and IBPSA libraries.
