Dr. Liangzhu (Leon) Wang is currently a Full Professor and Associate Director of the Centre for Zero Energy Building Studies (CZEBS) at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. He joined Concordia in August 2010 and has been the Concordia University Research Chair – Building Airflow and Thermal Management. He earned the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, USA in 2007. He then worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the Building and Fire Research Laboratory (BFRL) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) at Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA. Dr. Wang’s work contributed to the development of public guidance on CO safety for the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Dr. Wang is the vice-chair of the TC 4.10 - Indoor Environmental Modeling of ASHRAE (the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) and received the Best Paper Award from Building and Environment and the BFRL Distinguished Associate Award of the US NIST. Dr. Wang has been one of the developers of the US NIST’s CONTAM Multizone airflow and contaminant transport simulation model. His work has contributed directly to the International Energy Conservation Codes (IECC), Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) and ASHRAE 189.1 and 90.1 codes and standards. His current research focuses on urban microclimate and urban aerodynamics modeling, urban building thermal and energy simulations; weather and climate modeling; Bayesian inference and data-driven models; nature-based solutions and zero energy building technologies.
