Then 1 hour for panel debate and questions from the public

Main questions:

  1. The Montreal Climate Plan has resulted in some new regulations for energy transition for buildings in Montreal.  What are the goals and targets?  What are the challenges for implementation? What municipal rules, regulations and incentives in general are best suited to support the transition to zero emissions?
  2. Hydro Quebec and Energir are public supplier for energy in Quebec: what role do they play in the adoption, retrofit and the introduction of additional renewables in the energy grid? What are the possibilities for collaboration with the private sector to support the acceleration to more renewables?
  3. How do we motivate and incentivize building owners to invest into deep retrofit solutions? Do we need different strategies depending on the type of owner (private residential, real estate companies and commercial holders, industrial and institutional/ municipal ownership,..)
  4. How can we finance deep retrofit solutions?
  5. How can the public be informed of carbon transition options and be mobilised to adopt strategies for the energy transition (homeowners, tenants,..)
